Absorptive capacity represents an organization’s dynamic capability to acquire, assimilate, transform, and exploit knowledge for the purpose of creating organization value (Zahra & George, 2002). This study aims to examine the partial effects of three dimensions of strategic orientation as well as to investigate the moderating role of absorptive capacity in these relationships. This study contributes to the strategic management and dynamic capability literature by demonstrating moderating effect is not uniform across strategic orientation dimension. While absorptive capacity strengthens the impact of entrepreneurial orientation on organization’s performance, it weakens the influence of market orientation and exhibits no significant moderating effect on technology orientation. These findings challenge the prevailing assumption that absorptive capacity universally enhances the effectiveness of strategic orientations and provide a more refined understanding of its contingent role in organization performance.
