This study examines the effects of bank finance and government support on MSME performance, with behavioral finance and entrepreneurs’ competency as mediating variables. MSMEs play a crucial role in Indonesia’s economy but continue to face challenges related to limited financing access, low entrepreneurial competency, and behavioral biases in financial decision-making. A quantitative survey was conducted involving 243 MSME owners in Yogyakarta and Central Java selected through purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) with SmartPLS 4. The results indicate that the research model explains 67.8% of the variance in MSME performance and demonstrates strong predictive relevance. Hypothesis testing shows that both government support and bank finance have positive and significant effects on MSME performance. Entrepreneurs’ competency significantly mediates the relationship between bank finance and MSME performance, indicating that financial access contributes more effectively to business performance when supported by adequate entrepreneurial skills. However, behavioral finance does not mediate the relationship between government support and MSME performance. These findings suggest that improving MSME performance requires not only financial and governmental support but also the enhancement of entrepreneurial competency through collaborative efforts among stakeholders.
