Abstract

This research is motivated by the phenomenon of fluctuating production targets, which remained stalled at 80-85% at PT. Sepatim Batamtama Padang during the 2022-2024 period. The study aims to analyze the optimization of employee performance through selection and training strategies, with HR quality as an intervening variable. The research employs a quantitative associative approach, with a sample of 85 respondents selected via proportionate stratified random sampling. Data analysis was conducted using multiple linear regression and the Sobel Test to examine the mediation effect.The results indicate that employee selection and training contribute significantly to improving HR quality, which in turn has a positive impact on overall employee performance. The Sobel Test results prove that HR quality effectively serves as an intervening variable in this relationship. The implications of this study emphasize that to stabilize production targets, the company must not only implement rigorous recruitment and equitable technical training but also ensure the transformation of these factors into internal HR quality enhancement. By integrating these strategies, the company can minimize turnover rates and ensure more stable and competitive operational sustainability.
