Analisis Kebijakan Pemutusan Hubungan Kerja (PHK) pada Amazon.com dalam Perspektif Manajemen Sumber Daya Manusia

The development of digital technology and artificial intelligence has encouraged companies to make various adjustments in managing organizations and human resources. One common strategy implemented by companies is organizational restructuring, which may lead to layoffs. This study aims to analyze the layoff policy implemented by Amazon from a Human Resource Management (HRM) perspective and to identify the factors causing layoffs and their impacts on employees and organizations. This research uses a qualitative approach with a literature study (library research) method based on data obtained from news articles, company reports, and relevant academic publications. The results indicate that Amazon’s layoff policy is influenced by several main factors, including organizational restructuring, technological development and automation, and efforts to improve operational cost efficiency. These layoffs have significant impacts on employees, such as job loss and psychological pressure, while for companies they may increase operational efficiency but also potentially reduce employee motivation and corporate reputation. From the perspective of Human Resource Management, layoffs can be considered a strategic organizational decision to adjust workforce needs in response to changes in the business environment and technological developments (Dessler, 2020; Datta et al., 2010). Therefore, companies need to manage layoff policies carefully to minimize negative impacts on employees and organizational stability.
