Abstract

This study is motivated by the importance of transformational leadership and organizational culture in improving employee performance through interpersonal trust as a mediating factor. The objective of this research is to examine and explain the effect of transformational leadership and organizational culture on employee performance, both directly and indirectly through interpersonal trust at PT Vale Indonesia IGP Pomalaa. This study employs a quantitative approach with an explanatory research design and survey method. Data were collected cross-sectionally through questionnaires and documentation, with a population of 82 permanent employees, all of whom were used as respondents. The data analysis technique used Partial Least Square (PLS). The results indicate that transformational leadership and organizational culture have a positive and significant effect on interpersonal trust. Interpersonal trust also has a positive and significant effect on employee performance. Transformational leadership is proven to have a positive and significant effect on performance, while organizational culture has a positive but not significant effect. Furthermore, interpersonal trust is proven to partially mediate the effect of transformational leadership and fully mediate the effect of organizational culture on employee performance. These findings imply the importance of strengthening leadership and trust in improving performance.
