Abstract

This study aims to measure the level of housewives' knowledge of microeconomic concepts and analyze its implications for family financial management. The study was conducted at Senggol Market, Makassar City, using a case study approach involving in-depth interviews and a quantitative survey. The results indicate that most housewives have a fairly good understanding of basic microeconomic concepts, such as supply, demand, and resource management. However, there is a significant positive relationship between the level of microeconomic knowledge and the effectiveness of family financial management, particularly in terms of budget planning and savings. The conclusions of this study emphasize the importance of economic education for housewives to improve family welfare and domestic economic stability. More structured and accessible economic education is essential to improve understanding and skills in financial management at the household level. Therefore, the government and educational institutions need to develop economic education programs that are relevant to the needs of housewives and easy to understand and apply in everyday life.
