General anesthesia is an anesthetic procedure that causes the patient to lose consciousness, sensation and experience complete muscle relaxation, but this procedure also carries the risk of causing post-operative complications, one of which is hypothermia due to disruption of the body's thermoregulation mechanisms. Hypothermia after general anesthesia can increase morbidity and mortality so appropriate treatment needs to be taken. This community service activity was carried out at the Cilacap Regional Hospital involving 30 post-operative patients who experienced hypothermia (temperature <36°C). Intervention is provided by using a Blanket Warmer for 15–20 minutes accompanied by education about hypothermia. The results showed an increase in average body temperature from 35.0°C to 35.8°C, with a maximum temperature reaching 36.8°C. Patient knowledge about hypothermia also increased significantly, from the majority of low categories (76.7%) to all high (100%) after education. The characteristics of respondents were predominantly male (53.3%), initial elderly age 46–55 years (33.3%), type of major surgery (63.3%), duration of surgery was moderate (43.3%), and ASA II physical status (80%). Thus, the conclusion of community service is that the implementation of a Blanket Warmer has proven to be effective as a non-pharmacological intervention to increase the patient's body temperature as well as the patient's knowledge regarding the treatment of hypothermia, so it is recommended to be used as a service standard in hospitals.
