Abstract

. Generation Z (Gen Z) is a generation that has grown up in a digital environment, making it an important part of modern economic development. This article analyzes Gen Z’s perceptions of job opportunities in the digital era and their impact on national economic growth using a literature study method. The study reviews 31 scientific journals to examine how digital literacy, self-efficacy, and the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) influence Gen Z’s career preferences. The results show that although Gen Z has strong technological skills, they still face challenges such as generational gaps and skill mismatches with the formal sector. However, their involvement in the gig economy, creative industries, and digital entrepreneurship contributes positively to market efficiency and Indonesia’s economic growth toward the vision of Golden Indonesia 2045. Overall, Gen Z demonstrates a strong ability to adapt to technological change and digital transformation in the labor market. Their familiarity with digital tools enables them to explore new forms of employment that are more flexible and innovation-driven. In addition, their openness to Artificial Intelligence supports the development of modern work systems. Despite existing structural challenges in employment, Gen Z continues to show high potential in shaping future labor market trends. Therefore, strengthening education, skills training, and cross-sector collaboration is essential to optimize their contribution to sustainable economic development in Indonesia.
