Abstract

The purpose of this study is to explore the use of role play methods in English learning for hospitality students, particularly in the context of food and beverage service, in order to improve students' communication skills, deepen their understanding of hospitality terminology, build confidence in interacting with guests, and develop teamwork skills, thereby preparing them to face real situations in the hospitality industry. This study employs a qualitative approach using direct observation techniques of hospitality students who are participating in English learning through role play methods related to food and beverage service. The findings of this study indicate that the use of role play in English learning for hospitality students, particularly in the context of food and beverage service, has a significant positive impact. Students experienced improvements in communication skills, confidence, and understanding of the technical terminology used in the hospitality industry. Additionally, role play proved effective in developing teamwork skills, enhancing interactions with guests, and reducing awkwardness in speaking.
