This study aims to analyze the qualification standards of ulama educators in the Nizamiyah Madrasah and examine their contribution to the professional development of Islamic Religious Education (PAI) teachers in the modern era. The research employed a qualitative approach using a library research method by reviewing and synthesizing relevant literature, including books, scientific journal articles, and historical sources related to the Nizamiyah Madrasah, Islamic educational thought, and teacher professionalism. Data were analyzed through descriptive qualitative analysis combined with content analysis to identify the essential characteristics of ulama educators and reconstruct their relevance to contemporary Islamic education. The findings indicate that the qualification standards of educators in the Nizamiyah Madrasah were founded upon five principal dimensions: profound scholarly competence, moral and spiritual integrity, pedagogical competence, a strong academic culture, and intellectual leadership. These integrated qualifications enabled educators not only to transmit knowledge but also to cultivate character, strengthen spirituality, and foster scientific traditions within society. Furthermore, these historical educational values remain highly relevant to the professional development of modern PAI teachers, particularly in strengthening academic competence, ethical integrity, pedagogical skills, and educational leadership. Therefore, the educational model of the Nizamiyah Madrasah offers a valuable conceptual framework for developing holistic, adaptive, and value-oriented Islamic Religious Education teachers capable of addressing contemporary educational challenges.
