Abstract

One of the inhibiting factors in mastering a foreign language, including Arabic, is the minimum level of mastery acquired by students (students or santri). The cause that is most often found, among others, is due to a less nurturing (read: conducive) environment for students to get used to using a foreign language in their daily life. A nurturing environment is needed to encourage students to become independent learners. Therefore, institutions, namely Islamic boarding schools, which are religious education institutions, need to develop a nurturing environment in fostering an active and innovative love of Arabic. This article wants to further explore strategies that can be developed by Islamic boarding schools in fostering a love of Arabic by building an Arabic environment or what is often called Bi'ah Arabiyyah. Therefore this article aims to review strategies for developing a nurturing environment in fostering a love of Arabic in Islamic boarding schools so that students are able to understand the sciences of the Qur'an and Hadith as well as other religious sciences. This strategy uses the Participatory Action Research method, which can link the research process into the process of social change.
