Abstract

The global food crisis has become a real threat impacting national resilience, including Indonesia as an agrarian country. The Food Security Information Network 2024 notes that nearly 282 million people in 59 countries are facing acute food insecurity. In Indonesia, the low interest of the younger generation in the agricultural sector has become one of the main obstacles in achieving food self-sufficiency. Based on BPS data from 2023, only about 604,397 people from the total Generation Z have chosen to pursue a career as farmers. This Community Service Activity (PKM) was conducted in the form of socialization and interactive discussions with 25 students from SMKN 1 Sentani, Jayapura Regency, Papua Province, on February 5, 2026. The objective of the activity is to enhance the understanding, awareness, and motivation of the younger generation regarding the food crisis, the concept of food security and self-sufficiency, as well as agribusiness opportunities based on local potential. The implementation method includes the planning stage, socialization execution, and participatory evaluation. The results of the activities show an increase in students' understanding and motivation toward the agriculture and food sector, as well as a growing awareness of the importance of the youth's role in supporting national food security development.
